Lake Wylie Boating

Welcome to
Lake Wylie

Whether you are a first-time boater or an experienced Lake Wylie native, there is always something new to learn.

Captain Robb’s Lake Wylie experience

I love to boat and help others experience the magic of the water. Use the Contact Form below if you want to get an overview of Lake Wylie or learn some Watersports.

Unfortunately, due to liability, I am currently unable to rent my pontoon boat for the Tours.

Boating Tours

Are you interested in getting an on-water overview of the lake?  I've partnered with a local Pontoon boat company to offer this service, or we can meet at your dock.

Docking Services

Your first time docking, in a private slip or at a marina, can be a bit daunting.  I will spend time with you on your boat, learning some of the basics.

Boating Fun

There are many ways to have fun on the water. I can help you consider opportunities to go: Wake Surfing, Wake Foiling, Wakeboarding, Water Skiing, and Tubing.

Fishing

Yes, there is fishing on Lake Wylie. But I am not a fisherman, so I can't really help there.

FAQs

We are here to help you have a great time on Lake Wylie. Here are a few questions we are frequently asked.

What is included in a Pontoon Boat tour?

A pontoon boat tour on Lake Wylie can consist of whatever the group would like to do. I can make some suggestions of good areas to swim, lounge, eat lunch or dinner, and sight see.  Ultimately, I want you to enjoy your time on Lake Wylie. You may also bring and enjoy your own adult beverage, knowing that an experienced, sober captain is at the helm. Our standard trip is typically a Two-Hour tour.  The rates include up to 6 people, fuel, docking, a professional & knowledgeable USCG Captain. The tour will include bottled water and snacks.

Unfortunately, due to liability, I am currently unable to rent my pontoon boat for the Tours.

What are the regulations for life jackets?

Anyone 13 years or younger MUST have a US Coast Guard Approved Life Jacket on at ALL times (boat on or off, moving or stopped, anchored or not).

Can you help me with Wake Surfing, Water Skiing, Wake Boarding, or other water sports?

Yes, that is what we are here to promote.  While I am not an expert in these activities, I can help you with technique and learning the basics.  I can drive the boat while you demonstrate your skills--let’s have some fun together!

Lake Wylie Boating started because of a love of Wake Surfing.  While I do have basic equipment you can use, I encourage you to bring your own surf boards, water skis and other equipment.

Whose Boat is Used When Training?

Lake Wylie Boating offers a professional licensed captain, who holds a United States Coast Guard License, and has extensive experience on many types of vessels.  I will give you hands-on experience on your boat, so that you learn how to operate safely for not only your passengers, but other people out on the Lake.  Keep in mind that developing skills requires Hands on Experience with your own boat at your own dock.

**Taking a Boater Safety class is only PART of the journey to safe boating**

Can you tube or ski behind a pontoon?

Providing the engine is big enough, this is a great option.  The engine needs to be above 150 HP for water skiing and above 50 for all other activities.

For anyone over the age of 13, your life jacket and throw cushion should be readily accessible and you should know where the life jackets and throw cushion is located on the boat at all times.

What is the cancellation policy?

No refunds will be given for client cancellations.  If the Captain must cancel a tour due to weather or other reason, your deposit will be refunded.

Is there a deposit required for booking?

Yes.  There is a $50, non-refundable deposit on all tours.  Of course, in the case of a Small Craft Advisory &/or Captain's Call Cancellation, you would receive your deposit back.  The deposit does come off the total bill.

About Lake Wylie Boating

I am a retired Sales Consultant, looking to spend more time on the water.  During the winter, you can sometimes catch me water skiing.  But mostly, this is time for leisurely Pontoon Boat rides.

You can find me on the lake, Wake Surfing, Wake Foiling, Waterskiing, or just having fun in the warmer months.

I can be pretty flexible in timing, but please schedule at least a week in advance.

CONTACT INFO

I live on Lake Wylie in the Mclean area.  This is about the mid-point for Lake Wylie.  So I can meet you almost anywhere on the lake.
